The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially published the notification for the Senior Secretariat Assistant (SSA) / Upper Division Clerk (UDC) Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination 2025. The examination will be conducted for departmental candidates seeking promotion to SSA/UDC Grade posts under various Central Government organisations.

According to the notification, the online application process started on June 5, 2026 and will remain open until June 26, 2026. The Computer-Based Examination is tentatively scheduled during July-August 2026 and will be conducted exclusively in Delhi-NCR.

The recruitment will be conducted for Pay Level-4 posts carrying a salary range of Rs 25,500 to Rs 81,100 under the 7th CPC.

SSC SSA UDC Eligibility 2026

This examination is not an open recruitment. Only eligible departmental candidates belonging to participating services/cadres can apply.

Eligibility requirements vary by organisation. Most departments require:

  • 3 to 6 years of regular service in JSA/LDC grade.
  • Relevant service records.
  • Departmental approval through the proper channel.
  • Educational qualification as prescribed by the concerned cadre.

For example:

  • Central Passport Organisation requires Junior Passport Assistants with six years of regular service and a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Armed Forces Headquarters Clerical Service requires five years of approved continuous service in JSA Grade.
  • Election Commission of India requires a minimum of three years of regular service in the JSA/LDC Grade.
  • Forest Survey of India, NTRO and MSME require five years of regular service in the respective grade.

SSC SSA UDC Age Limit 2026

Age conditions differ according to the participating cadre.

Some organisations have prescribed upper age limits:

  • Railway Board Secretariat Clerical Service: Maximum 50 years.
  • Directorate General Defence Estates: Maximum 45 years.

Age relaxation is available for eligible reserved categories as per Government rules.

Eligible departmental candidates can follow these steps:

  1. Visit SSC’s official website.
  2. Complete One Time Registration (OTR) if not already registered on the new SSC portal.
  3. Fill the online application form.
  4. Upload required documents and signature.
  5. Submit the application before June 26, 2026.
  6. Take a printout of the application form.
  7. Get the application forwarded through the Head of Department/Office.

Applications not forwarded through proper departmental channels will not be considered.
