The National Testing Agency has issued the CSIR UGC NET June 2026 Notification for candidates seeking eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship, Assistant Professor posts, and Ph.D. admission in science subjects. The online application process has started through the official CSIR NET portal, csirnet.nta.nic.in.
As per the official information bulletin, candidates can submit the CSIR NET June 2026 application form from May 27 to June 19, 2026, while the last date for successful payment of the examination fee is June 20, 2026. The examination will be conducted in Computer-Based Test mode on July 17 and July 18, 2026.
The Joint CSIR UGC NET June 2026 is conducted for Indian nationals in five science subjects. Candidates qualifying under different categories will be considered for the award of JRF and appointment as Assistant Professor, appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D., or admission to Ph.D. only.

The NTA CSIR NET 2026 registration window will remain open for nearly three weeks. Candidates are advised not to wait for the last date, as the form involves registration, document upload, subject selection, exam city preference and fee payment.

The exam will be held in two shifts. Shift 1 will run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon, while Shift 2 will be conducted from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The exact exam centre, date and shift will be mentioned on the admit card.
Who Can Apply for CSIR NET June 2026?
The CSIR NET eligibility 2026 criteria depend on the category and qualification of the candidate. General, Unreserved and General-EWS candidates must have secured at least 55% marks in a Master’s degree or equivalent examination from a recognised university or institution.
Candidates belonging to OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, PwBD and Third Gender categories need at least 50% marks in the qualifying Master’s degree or equivalent examination. Candidates appearing in the final year of their Master’s degree or waiting for results can also apply provisionally.
The notification also allows candidates with a four-year or eight-semester bachelor’s degree to appear, provided they have secured at least 75% marks or equivalent grade. A relaxation of 5% is available for reserved categories as per rules. Such candidates will be eligible for JRF and Ph.D. admission, but not for appointment as Assistant Professor.
Age Limit for JRF, Assistant Professor and Ph.D. Admission
For Junior Research Fellowship, the upper age limit is not more than 30 years as of the first day of the month in which the examination is concluded, which means July 2026 for this cycle.
Age relaxation of up to 5 years is available for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, PwBD, Third Gender candidates and women applicants. Relaxation is also available for candidates with research experience and armed forces service, subject to the conditions mentioned in the bulletin.
There is no upper age limit for candidates applying for Assistant Professor eligibility or admission to Ph.D. through the Joint CSIR UGC NET June 2026 exam.
CSIR NET June 2026 Application Fee
Candidates must pay the CSIR NET exam fee 2026 online through debit card, credit card, UPI, internet banking or other permitted payment gateways.

How to Apply for CSIR NET June 2026
Candidates can fill the CSIR NET application form 2026 online only at csirnet.nta.nic.in. No offline application form will be accepted.
To apply, candidates need to register with their own email ID and mobile number, fill the online form, upload scanned documents and pay the examination fee. The scanned photograph must be in JPG/JPEG format between 10 KB and 200 KB, while the signature must be between 10 KB and 50 KB.
Candidates may also need to upload category certificate, EWS certificate, PwD/PwBD certificate or result-awaited attestation form, wherever applicable. These documents should generally be uploaded in PDF format within the size limits mentioned in the notification.

Before starting the NTA CSIR NET June 2026 registration, candidates should keep their academic and identity details ready. This reduces the chance of errors during form submission.
Candidates should keep their board or university certificate, qualifying degree certificate or last semester marksheet, valid identity proof, category certificate if applicable, result awaited certificate if applicable, email ID, mobile number, scanned photograph, scanned signature and four preferred exam city choices ready before filling the form.
Only one application form is allowed. If a candidate submits multiple forms for the same course, only the first form will be considered and the remaining applications will be rejected automatically.
