Revised Notification Replaces Earlier Schedule
Candidates should pay particular attention to the revised notification.
The original notification had scheduled online applications from October 7 to November 6, 2026. However, the application process was subsequently deferred for administrative reasons.
RRC Jaipur issued a revised detailed notification on October 21, 2026. The valid application schedule is now:
- Application opening: October 23, 2026
- Application closing: November 22, 2026 at 11:59 PM
Candidates should therefore not rely on the superseded October 7–November 6 schedule appearing on older recruitment pages.
RRC NWR Apprentice Vacancy 2026
The revised notification states that recruitment is being conducted against 2,008 Act Apprentice slots across divisions and workshops under North Western Railway.
The apprenticeship opportunities are available in units connected with Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur and Jodhpur.
Unit-Wise Slots Printed in Revised Notification
| Division/Unit | Slots Printed in Revised Tables |
|---|---|
| DRM Office, Ajmer | 488 |
| DRM Office, Bikaner | 482 |
| DRM Office, Jaipur | 549 |
| DRM Office, Jodhpur | 445 |

| B.T.C. Loco, Ajmer | 69 |
| Carriage Workshop, Bikaner | 33 |
| Carriage Workshop, Jodhpur | 67 |
Important Vacancy Discrepancy
Candidates should note an important inconsistency in the revised notification.
While the notification describes the recruitment as being for 2,008 slots, adding the revised unit-wise figures printed in the vacancy tables gives 2,234 slots.
The notification does not explain this difference.
Therefore, 2,008 should currently be treated as the officially declared overall recruitment figure, while candidates should carefully check the trade- and unit-specific vacancy table applicable to them before submitting the application.
This is particularly important because candidates can choose only the prescribed unit/trade combination available through the application system.

ITI Qualification
Candidates must possess a:
National Trade Certificate in the relevant notified trade issued by NCVT or SCVT.
The ITI trade must correspond to the trade for which the candidate is applying.
Possessing an ITI certificate in an unrelated trade does not make a candidate eligible for a different apprenticeship trade.

RRC NWR Apprentice Selection Process 2026
One of the most important aspects of this recruitment is that there is no written examination.
Selection will be based on:
- Merit List
- Document Verification
- Medical Examination
How the Merit List Will Be Prepared
The merit list will be prepared using:
- Percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation; and
- Percentage of marks obtained in the relevant ITI trade.
A simple average of the Matriculation percentage and ITI percentage will be used.
For example, if a candidate has:
- Class 10 marks: 80%
- ITI marks: 90%
The merit score would be:
(80 + 90) ÷ 2 = 85%
No additional weightage is mentioned merely for obtaining higher educational qualifications.
How Class 10 Marks Will Be Calculated
For Matriculation, marks obtained in all subjects will be considered.
Candidates should not calculate their percentage using only:
- Best five subjects
- Selected subjects
- Trade-related subjects
- Language exclusions
The percentage must be calculated according to the conditions given in the notification.
How ITI Marks Will Be Calculated
For ITI qualification, the marks shown on the candidate’s provisional or final ITI certificate will be taken into account.
Candidates should ensure that the marks entered in the application form exactly match the qualifying documents.
Incorrect entry of marks can affect merit position and may lead to rejection during document verification.
Is RRC NWR Apprentice a Permanent Railway Job?
No.
This recruitment is for engagement as an Act Apprentice under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
It is not direct recruitment to a permanent post in Indian Railways.
Completion of apprenticeship training does not automatically give candidates a guaranteed right to:
- Permanent railway employment
- Regular appointment
- Absorption into Railway service
- Appointment to a Group C or Group D post
Candidates should consider the recruitment primarily as an apprenticeship and skill-training opportunity.
